此書內容選輯自作者於2014-2016年間於國內外學術交流之印學論文五篇。〈香港公私藏印譜輯要〉概述中國印譜史,以至迄今國內外的藏譜情況;香港地區現存印譜為國內外之最,惜乏人問津,此文探討香港印譜藏本研究的迫切性,並提出了研究、整理之方法。〈描摹印譜──且由《超然樓印賞》說起〉、〈中國印譜版框的功能與美學〉乃專題式研究,二文以本地公私所藏一手資料為基礎,揭示中國印譜的獨特性,且與文人藝術有密不可分的關係,為任何文獻未有記載、一直未被論及的題目。黃牧甫為「嶺南派」之始祖,影響力遍及廣東,香港印人無一不受影響,其重要性無容置疑;〈所知見黃牧甫印譜傳本〉、〈黃牧甫「印外求印」的探求與實踐〉分別舉出黃牧甫印譜約七十種、印章逾百方,討論其印風得以流傳、影響後世的重要因素。此五文雖為獨立題目,卻互相扣連,反映了香港於嶺南篆刻的獨特性和發展性。此書由香港藝術發展局資助、香港中文大學藝術系出版,撰序者有莫家良、唐錦騰,另有黃燕芳、鄧小虎作跋。

Dr. Samantha Lau received her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees from The University of Hong Kong, and her Doctoral degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializing in Chinese art history. Most recently, Dr. Lau is a part-time Lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on Fine Arts and General Education, and has also given lectures at The University of Hong Kong, Sun Yat-sen University, Fudan University, Wuxi Museum and others. She is also a Research Partner of the Hong Kong Museum of Art on the project of Research on the Seal Collections of the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware and Lingnan Seal-engraving Art. Previous scholarly projects consist of the compilation of Guangxi Normal University Press publications, The Compendium of Ancient Seal Imprint Books (85volumes), and the academic project of Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, A Study on Lin Jin (1923-2004)’s Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Art. Notable publications include her M.Phil. and Ph.D. works, The Seal Engraving Art of Deng Shiru (1743-1805) (2004) and A Study of Huang Mufu’s Life and Seal Engraving Art (2012) respectively; and contributed articles to The Art of Chen Hongshou: Painting, Calligraphy, Seal-carving and Teapot-design (2005) and Double Beauty II: Qing Dynasty Couplets from the Lechangzai Xuan Collection (2007); and articles for Review of Culture, Xiling Academic Magazine of Traditional Arts, The Book Collector, China Seal Cutting, Daguan Monthly Magazine, Rakuren, C for Culture, Wen Wei Po, Hong Kong Visual Arts Yearbook. Latest authored book includes The Ambiance of Lingnan: Studies in Chinese Seals and Seal Books by Dr. Lau Ho Man.
