Links and Hubs is based on the outcome of the Advanced Architectural Masterstudio of the same title taught by Esther Lorenz at the School of Architecture, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, in Term 2 of 2010-11. The first part of the book displays the students’ research conducted on a territorial scale along the “Sha Tin to Central Link”, an actual railway extension project in Hong Kong, which is now shortly before its realization. The second part presents the architectural proposals by the eight students for the different stations on the link. Interspersed are depictions of events which accompanied these investigations.

Esther Lorenz is a registered architect with education from TU Graz and TU Delft. She has been invited lecturer and guest critic at academic institutions internationally. In her research work and teaching she investigates architecture and the contemporary city in regard to cultural issues with a focus on socio-cultural sustainability, space perception, and the intersection between architecture, media and infrastructure. She is currently Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
