The Educational Research Journal is the official publication of the Hong Kong Educational Research Association. Published by the HKIER twice a year, it accepts original contributions on areas of research in education, particularly articles concerning empirical studies, theoretical research, methodological innovations, topical reviews of research, and evaluation of education programmes and policies. The journal emphasizes the promotion of educational research findings of relevance to Hong Kong and other Chinese societies.

Notes for Contributors
All papers considered appropriate for this journal are reviewed anonymously by at least two outside reviewers. Manuscripts will be evaluated on the basis of style as well as content. Journal policy prohibits an author from simultaneously submitting the same manuscript for concurrent consideration by two or more journals.

Three copies of the manuscript in English or Chinese should be submitted to the following address. Electronic submission via e-mail (hkier-journal@cuhk.edu.hk) is acceptable.

Preparation of Manuscript

In preparing manuscripts for publication in the ERJ, authors should follow the style and format of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed., 2010) [For Chinese style guide, please click here].To ensure rapid and efficient processing of their submissions, authors are advised to adhere to the following guidelines.

Title Page — Authors should submit a separate cover sheet including the title of the manuscript, full name of author(s), institutional affiliation(s), running head, and full mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address of the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.

Abstract page — An abstract of not more than 200 words should be included. For Chinese articles, the author is requested to submit an English abstract and an English title. After the abstract, three key words or phrases should be included.

Main text — Manuscripts should be in A4 double-spaced typescript. The length of English manuscripts should not be more than 7,000 words and that of Chinese manuscripts should not be more than 10,000 characters.

Tables and Figures — Tables and figures should be typed on separate sheets. The appropriate position of tables (and figures) should be indicated in the manuscript. All figures must be camera-ready, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.

Copyright — Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication must transfer copyright to the Hong Kong Educational Research Association. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, and for obtaining permission from copyright owners if they use illustrations or lengthy quotes that have been published elsewhere.

Electronic submission — Electronic submission is acceptable. Upon acceptance of manuscripts for publication, authors may submit the final manuscript via email (hkier-journal@cuhk.edu.hk).
