In 2014 the Fourth International Congress of Ethnic Chinese Biblical Scholars was held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with 96 scholars from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Italy, France etc. This conference sought to recognize and encourage biblical scholarship among ethnic Chinese biblical scholars, to create a lively network of ethnic Chinese scholars from Asia and in the Diaspora, and to identify and nurture the next generation of ethnic Chinese biblical scholars. This collection of 26 essays from the conference showcases the varieties of approaches and insights offered by ethnic biblical scholars and is divided into three parts: Old Testament, New Testament, and Comparative Studies. Asian biblical scholarship is traditionally led by male scholars, but we are glad and proud to see that in this volume 14 essays are written by female scholars, indicating a balanced contribution from both genders.
