It is a collection of 40 papers mainly composed by Xue Daiwei on applied mathematics and mechanics. These papers were originally published between 1962 and 2004 in core journals, bulletins, proceedings and monographs by both Mainland China and internationally acclaimed publishers. Apart from conducting profound research on the theory of plates and shells, the thermal stress, the theorem on limit analysis, the elastic and plastic analysis, and the variational principle, the author also concerns application issues such as penetration problems and the impact between birds and aeroplanes. The book demonstrates the significance of research results accomplished by the author over the years.
