Following the convening of Hong Kong International Poetry Nights 2011, Words & the World is a collection of selected works by some of the most internationally acclaimed poets today. The poem of "Old Things" by Wong Leung Wo (Hong Kong) is finest contemporary poetry in trilingual or bilingual presentation.
Born in Hong Kong and graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Wong Leung Wo's role as a part-time instructor of a poetry workshop at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in 1995 led to the founding, together with his students, of Women shikan 我們詩刊 [We poetry journal]. He was a co-editor of Huxi Poetry 呼吸詩刊 (1996-1997). Wong's essays, short stories and poetry have won him multiple awards, including the 1992 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Poetry) for You deng柚燈 [Pomelo lantern] (1991) and the 2002 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Fiction) for Yu Zhou魚咒 [Curse of the fish] (2002). He is an associate professor at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
