The tiny residential area near Beijing South Railway Station has been called Petition Village since thousands upon thousands of petitioners from all over the country living there for recent years. Camps and huts in petition village were smashed by Chinese government many times, but a lot of petitioners still stay there with hardship to seek justice for themselves or family members.
北京火車南站附近的一大片民房區，近年聚居了成千上萬來自全國各地的上訪民眾而被外界稱為上訪村，當局曾多次清拆該區的平房和窩棚，但不少上訪民眾仍戀守這片地，為自己或家人的冤情苦尋青天。

By tracing the story of teacher Huang Jing, who died after falling victim to date rape, this documentary captures the changes in China between 2003 and 2005, before and after the injunction to respect and protect human rights was written into the Constitution. The documentary illustrates awareness of human rights, women’s struggle against judicial corruption, and women taking action to fight against domestic violence. By highlighting the effort made by women at the grass roots level, the documentary records the cultural debates between women and the law, and the impact of their campaigns on policy makers. The documentary serves as a forum for presenting the crime of rape in different perspectives while promoting debate on the possibilities of civil society activism in China
通過對湖南女教師黃靜受害案的追蹤，這部記錄片關注今天中國社會正在經歷的重要變動：公民意識的覺醒，婦女對司法腐敗的抗爭以及反對性暴力的行動。從影片中可以看到，2003年到2005年人權入憲前後中國基層民眾的權利訴求以及公民權利意識的進一步覺醒。記錄者希望，通過一樁法律公案的故事，展現婦女與法律的文化論戰，知識份子的社會責任，並激發對於建立公民社會之可能性的持續討論。

Because of handling cases involving forced eviction, religion and freedom of expression, Beijing Bureau of Justice prepared to revoke the lawyers' licenses of human rights lawyers Tang Jitian and Liu Wei. On April 22, 2010, the hearing for the revocation of their licenses was held at the office of the Beijing Bureau of Justice. This marked the beginning of a new round of suppression of human rights lawyers.
In recent years, the situation regarding human rights lawyers have worsened. They have been sentenced, sent to Re-education through Labor camps, harassed, kidnapped, followed and beaten, and these malignant events are occurring frequently. As voices of the vulnerable, their channels for fighting for justice have been blocked one after the other.
由於代理拆遷、宗教及言論自由等案件，北京市司法局準備吊銷維權律師唐吉田、劉巍的律師執業證。2010年4月22日，吊照聽證會在北京市司法局舉行。這是對維權律師群體新一輪打壓的開始。
近年來維權律師群體的生存狀況日亦惡化，被判刑、被勞教、被騷擾、被綁架、被跟蹤、被毆打，惡性事件頻頻發生。作為弱勢群體的代言人，他們爭取公正的發聲通道被一一封堵。

In 2010, a freedom of expression case known as "The Three Netizens" caused a civil movement storm in mainland China.
In Minqing County, Fujian Province, a girl was raped to death. The police said that it was a natural death. However, based on various signs, her mother believes that the girl died after she was gang raped. Three netizens, You Jingyou, Fan Yanqiong and Wu Huaying, wrote articles and recorded videos for the girl's mother and made them public on the internet. Because of this, the police convicted the three and sentenced them to between one and two years in prison.
This event caused great indignation among the netizens. People came from across the country to the Mawei Court in Fujian Province to show their solidarity with the three, thus opening a new chapter in the history China's civil rights movement.
2010年，中國大陸，一起被稱為「三網友」案的言論自由案件引起了一場公民運動風暴。
福建閩清發生了一起少女暴死案件，警方鑒定為自然死亡，而少女的母親根據種種跡象認為是被輪姦致死，遊精佑、范燕瓊、吳華英為其寫文章、錄製視頻公佈於網路。法院據此以誹謗罪判處三人一至兩年徒刑。
此事件激起了網民的極大憤慨，人們從全國各地趕到福州馬尾法院聲援。公民維權運動也由此掀開了新的篇章。

The possible conspiracy surrounding the 1994 theatre Fire that took the lives of 323 people in Xinjiang Province – most of them schoolchildren, none of them Government officials or business leaders at the event – isn's the real subject of Xu Xin's moving and compelling epic documentary. Because of handling a human rights case, lawyer Ni Yulan was beaten and tortured to disability by the police, and twice she was framed and imprisoned for a total of three years. In prison, because she would not yield, she was subjected to inhuman abuses. To retaliate against her, the police also forcibly demolished and robbed her of her home, and so when Ni was released from prison, she and her husband had to live on the streets. However, her optimistic spirit and indomitable courage has won her the love of the people.
倪玉蘭律師因代理維權案件被員警施酷刑毆打致殘，並被構陷兩次入獄共計三年時間，在獄中由於她的不屈，更是遭到了非人的虐待。她的家被警方報復性強拆掠奪，致使她出獄後與丈夫流落街頭。但她樂觀向上的精神和頑強的鬥爭勇氣卻使她贏得了民眾的愛戴。
